Our research and development efforts in lightweight construction focus on innovation and partnership. In close collaboration with leading universities and research institutes, we drive forward groundbreaking projects to develop new, forward-looking products. As an innovative company, we not only provide our expertise but also offer access to our state-of-the-art production facilities, transforming theoretical concepts into tangible prototypes. This way, we actively shape the future of lightweight construction.
Our commitment goes beyond technical implementation: lightness and efficiency are at the core of our corporate philosophy. Sustainability plays a central role, emphasizing material recycling and CO₂ footprint reduction. Using cutting-edge technologies and our extensive expertise, we support our partners in creating innovative solutions that not only meet current requirements but also significantly influence the future of lightweight construction.
TRIPAN – taking the decisive step forward to bring lightness into the world.
The “rGFK Goes Trailer” project explores sustainable methods for recycling glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRP) and old tire particles to develop lightweight, recyclable sandwich panels for freight transport. These panels are 25% lighter than conventional phenolic plywood panels, durable, and circular. A comprehensive process chain ensures optimal results. After use, the panels are fully recyclable, supported by a life cycle analysis and proof of CO₂ savings.
The “3DBiofibreGoesAuto” project develops bio-based, recyclable natural fiber composite materials for the automotive industry. The aim is to produce lightweight, vibration-damping sandwich panels with thermoplastic matrices. Challenges such as moisture absorption and thermal stability are addressed through targeted modifications. An international consortium covers the entire value chain—from fiber modification to production—with a focus on small-series vehicles such as buses and motorhomes.
